Downtown Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge has an artsy vibe, with a vibrant arts scene, local art galleries and great community theater. Stunning views, hiking trails, waterfalls, restaurants, wineries and craft breweries, galleries, shops and friendly people await in this charming North Georgia mountain town. If you live anywhere in the southeast, you're within driving distance of Blue Ridge, only 90 miles north of Atlanta via I-575 on the Georgia-Tennessee-North Carolina line.

Blue Ridge was founded in 1886 as a result of the arrival of the Marietta and North Georgia Railroad. In the early years, there were five hotels and several boarding houses in downtown Blue Ridge, and the town was promoted as the "Switzerland of the South." Developed in 1887 as a premier resort town, Blue Ridge has evolved with the times and still maintains its casual luxury alongside it's rugged outdoor appeal. The area has earned its chops as a dining destination as well.

As the home of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, the historic railroad depot remains the central focus in downtown Blue Ridge. Although the first depot burned, the present station was built in 1906. You can see the train depart the station at 11 a.m. most days in season.

Hike or Mountain bike from the house on some of the best trails in Georgia. The Aska trail system is just over a half mile walk or ride from the house. Springer Mountain, the start of the famed Appalchian Trail, is just a 20 mile drive away. Drive 1 mile from the house and hop on the Georgia Traverse - a 390 Mile OHV Route that spans across the state. This links up to the South Carolina Adventure route with over 400 additional miles. Bring your boat (there's room to park it) or rent one from the Blue Ridge Marina and spend the day exploring Lake Blue Ridge. Dry Branch boat ramp is a 5 mile drive from the house. Take a scenic drive in pretty much any direction you please - North Georgia offers some of the best scenery around! With so much to do in Blue Ridge, you'll find yourself coming back again and again!
